Deborah Hill
Deborah Hill has experience over a wide range of market research approaches in many industries, including insurance, transportation, banking, healthcare and medical diagnostics, food supply, forestry, retail, travel, entertainment and telecommunications.
This work has included extensive qualitative research of customers, suppliers, employees, managers, and subject matter experts where she is able to reveal the often unspoken customer needs and wants that are the true drivers of purchasing. She has also been involved in the development of employee research projects, working with client management teams to boost staff morale and reduce churn, and to increase customer alignment within organisations. Working in the field of Customer Value for the past seven years, Deborah has also been extensively involved in the formulation and facilitation of workshops in New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Deborah began her research career at Queen's University in Canada in the mid 1970's. After completion of her Master's degree in Applied Psychology, she worked as a Psychology consultant and in the travel industry, before moving to New Zealand in 1986.
Deborah served as a consultant with Radford Group and Prometheus Ltd until 1997. She then became a founding director of David Shieff and Associates Ltd., a full-service strategic consultancy and research firm, specialising in customer and employee satisfaction measurement, market research and analysis, and strategy facilitation and formulation.
Now the Director of Unconventional Wisdom, Deborah's passion is to bring the voice of the customer into client organisations as it is her belief that a comprehensive understanding of customers is an essential precursor to the creation of value.
